Yayyyyy, they're here!

Woohoo! My promo cards finally arrived! Check it out!

Haha.. I know that last photo is random. That's my crazy dog, Lucky. He was hanging around when I took the other pics so I just snapped one of him real quick and thought it turned out pretty funny. He has that "what the hell do you want" look on his face lol.

Anyways, I'm so happy to finally have my promo cards! Hopefully I'll be able to start handing them out this weekend. For those of you who live in Atlanta, you might see me around :). Also, I emailed all the people on my Myspace friend's list to get opinions on which two designs they think should get printed for next month. At first, I was expecting a small response, but to my surprise, I got a lot of people commenting on the designs they wanted to see printed. Wow! It was a great feeling to know that people will take the time out to put in their two cents... thank you to all those who have given me their input or commented so far, you guys rock hardcore!

I also received an email from one girl saying she thought it was cool that I was trying to get people into what I'm doing. It felt good to hear her acknowledgement because that's one of the main reasons why I started this clothing business. I don't want to just be a picture on a page, I want people to know the face behind the picture and the brand. And, let them know that I am a person just like the rest of them and I value their input and opinions. It's also great because I get to interact and meet people and thus, create personal connections with my audience. That's the best part! Okay, I'm off my podium now lol.

So that's an update on what's been going on. Other than that, I am waiting on the printer to get back in touch with me so I can get the ball rolling!

First purchases!

In the past couple days, I've been doing some online marketing on Myspace. Surprisingly I received a few purchases and some supporting comments along the way! Woohoo! Definitely exciting and encouraging. I've come to the conclusion to use the unisex shirts because I think it'll just work out better that way and there will be more flexibility in fit.

I'm looking forward to my promo cards and hopefully they'll be coming next week. In the meantime, I've been contemplating on other items to add to my store. I think one think I've realized since I decided to start this clothing line is that everything takes time. The hardest part is waiting. We usually want everything to come now but unfortunately that's not how it works lol.

However, I am optimistic about the upcoming designs that will be offered and can't wait to put them out! November is coming soon so new stuff is on the way! Alrighty... peace out!

Shirt sizes

Okay, so after some debating with myself, I think I'm going to just print on the unisex American Apparel style from now on. Even though the women's has an androgynous look, the sizing is more flexible for the AA unisex and I think people will be happier with the fit!! November is coming soon so look out for some new stuff!

Update on website and other stuff

Okay, so I've been working like crazy on designing and publishing the website and now it's finally up! I've also ordered my promotion cards so those should be arriving the end of this week if not the beginning of next week! I'm offering a 15% discount for all orders until November 15th so hop on a take advantage of this limited time offer! Just type in "unbound15" in the "discount code" field on the check out page. I've also created a Myspace page and working on a Facebook group so watch out for us! Here's the URL for the website: www.unboundapparel.com

Some screenshots of the site:

Don't mind my desktop, I was just too lazy to crop these, haha. Anyway, I'm quite happy with how the site turned out but I know I'll probably need to add another section when I get new products that aren't t-shirts. For now, I'm just kind of putting everything under the "tees" section. Alright, I'm out!

First batch of shirts!!!!!!

I am extremely excited as my first batch of shirts have arrived today!!!!! Not to mention, I also received my business cards... woohoo!!!!!! Check it out!

I was quite pleased with the quality of the printing so I think I'm going to stick with this printer. The business cards also turned out better than I expected. I used Overnight Prints thinking they were going to be mediocre but man was I wrong! Nice surprise. Anyways, I need to do a photo shoot for this shirt soon so it'll look nicer but for now I just have a photograph of it up on my store. Next is going to be marketing... this is going to be the hardest part. I have some promo cards I designed so all I need to do is get them printed and handed out. I'm so excited!

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the Unbound Apparel blog! Here you'll find information on updates, upcoming designs and I'm sure some random posts once in awhile :)

For starters, my name is Emily and I am aspiring to manage my own clothing company. My clothing will be a bit different from others as I'm going to be creating an androgynous line. For starters, we'll start by targeting the urbane tomboy. What's an urbane tomboy you might ask? It's the new hip word for the female equivalent of the "meterosexual". Women who's style is androgynous. Being one myself, it's always hard for me to find clothes I like to wear and usually, I find myself shopping in the men's department. Kind of annoying if you ask me since there are no sizes that fit women properly.

I want to change this. I want to be able to create androgynous clothing that is stylish yet comfortable. I decided to start off with t-shirt designs that express what this clothing line is about. As time progresses, I will also tap into a men's line. However, this may sound like a separation in gender, but the difference is, it can be worn by both sexes. My ultimate goal will be to design actual tailored clothing that both men and women can wear, which will be sweet! So, come and enjoy the ride with me!
